Carrefour has announced the opening of a major distribution centre (DC) in Brazil, which is set to become its mains logistics hub in the country.
64,000 square metre facility
The new facility will be based in the city of Cajamar, in Sao Paulo state, and is due to serve both online and brick-and-mortar stores and strengthen Carrefour’s logistics capabilities amid a solid growth of its online arm. Carrefour Brasil expects the new DC to boost its delivery capacity by 300%.
Luiz Escobar, Carrefour Brasil’s director for e-commerce, said in a statement: “Given the exponential growth of e-commerce, we needed to change the structure of our distribution center before Black Friday.”
